Caramel apples have always been a favorite fall treat of mine because I absolutely LOVE them! As you may very well know, they can be a bit tricky and messy to eat, but so fun to decorate and enjoy. This week I decided to try and make some of my own, and I will be the first to admit, they aren’t as easy to make as they look! To make things a little easier, we improvised a bit and I’m a big fan of the final result.
Instead of dipping a full apple, we decided to slice them before dipping. This made it way easier because the toppings didn’t run down the sides and drip off. It was much more forgiving, and a lot easier for the kids to do. Plus it is made the apples way easier to bite into and enjoy, and let’s get real, that is the only part that matters.
Prep is pretty easy – Just wash the apples, unwrap and melt the caramel and chocolate, then stab the apple with a stick and get decorating! The great thing about caramel apples is that you can decorate them with whatever you want. Here are a few of our favorites:
-Cinnamon + sugar (really good with white chocolate and carmel)
-Cookies and Cream candy bars
-Heath Toffee bites
-Mini chocolate chips
Let me know if you find a good caramel apple combo, I’d love to give it a try!
