My Running Tips and Tricks

Happy Monday! One of my goals for 2020 is to run a few half marathons and while that may not be something I can officially do this year, I have still been training. Working towards this goal has kept me motivated and grounded throughout the last few months, and it has been so nice to keep my body moving lately.

I do know that – especially right now – some days are easier than others, so today I wanted to share a few tips and tricks to getting started and sticking to it!

WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS. If you have a training schedule, which you can find in my Running Guide, print it out and hang it on your bathroom mirror, fridge, or somewhere you will see it everyday along with your goals. Having this visual will help keep you focused and motivated.

FIND A FRIEND and make a goal to run a half marathon together. Almost anyone can run and finish a half marathon, so grab your bestie and get going. Running with a friend will not only make your goal to train and finish a half marathon much easier, but it will also be a lot more fun! I have trained for all my races with my husband or dad and I cherish those moments with them. Plus, you can hold each other accountable and build each other up along the way!

MAKE TIME. Training for a half marathon takes a lot of time, and right now is the perfect time to start. Talk to your husband, friends or family and get them on board to support and help you accomplish this amazing goal. It will take up to 10 weeks of your life and a lot of hard work, but there is nothing quite like crossing that finish line. The adrenaline that comes with it makes all the blood, sweat, tears and time worth it.

You can find more tips and tricks, a training schedule and so much more in my Running Guide! If you have any additional questions, please ask in the comments below!

  1. I THINK IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO INCLUDE TIPS ON CHILDCARE WHILE YOU RUN. i KNOW THAT I FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CARVE OUT TIME TO WORKOUT WITH A YOUNG CHILD AND A FULL TIME JOB. I USED TO WORK OUT WHILE I WAS AT THE OFFICE, BUT NOW THAT WE ARE STILL STAYING AT HOME, I’VE REALLY STRUGGLED. THANKS!

  2. Being a runner myself i really APPRECIATE having someone who understands tHe time and effort put into Running, and someone who knows that the pain and tears paY off.
