Hello and happy Friday! One of my New Year resolutions was to run a few half marathons this year, and while that may not be something I can officially do this year, I have still been training. Working towards this goal has kept me motivated and grounded throughout the last few months, and it has been so nice to keep my body moving lately.
I’ve been sharing my morning runs on IG and so many people have reached out with questions, so I thought it would be fun to have this weeks Friday Favs focused on my running must haves!
For me, getting my workout done first thing in the morning sets everything in motion. Right when I wake up, I change into IVL – being in my favorite workout clothes motivates me to get up and get moving.
Lately, I have been loving the pleated running skirt! The breathable design and moisture-wicking fabric is perfect for long runs on sunny days!
Depending on how early we start our runs, the mornings can be a bit chillier so this top has been a game changer. The new cold shoulder long sleeve gives me the coverage I need on those cool summer mornings but is still lightweight enough to wear even when the sun peeks through.
However, if you’re like me and you need an extra layer in the morning but think you’ll get too hot during your run, the Light As Air jacket is a must! The name truly speaks for itself! It is the perfect “chilly in the morning, warm in the afternoon” jacket, and easily packs into the pocket so it is such a breeze to carry with you anywhere.
Both the long sleeve and the jacket are semi-sheer which makes them the perfect layering piece! Personally, I love pairing either with the Stay-In-Place bra but honestly, you can’t go wrong with any color underneath! I always have so much fun mixing and matching my IVL pieces!
No workout outfit would be complete without my favorite running shoes! As you all know, I am the biggest fan of APL! They are my go-to sneaker always because they are so stylish without compromising on comfort! Plus, I love the bright colors! I have linked some of my current favs below!
I swear by my L. Erickson hair ties and I always have one on me! Honestly, these are the best hair ties I have ever used! They have a thicker band that offers a strong hold, but doesn’t tangle or kink your hair like so many others do! Plus, they look more elevated than other hair ties do so I don’t mind having one on my wrist.
Coola sunscreen is my absolute favorite! While I was in Hawaii last year, the girl doing my spray tan recommended it and I have been obsessed ever since. Super lightweight and hydrating, incorporates antioxidant-rich nutrients and if you’re by the beach, it’s also reef-friendly!
For an added boost of energy to get me out the door, I use Level Up pre-workout! I have been raving about Level Up since day one and for good reason: it is SO GOOD! This pre-workout doesn’t give you jitters, has added vitamins to boost metabolism, and is now available in two amazing flavors! I will always be a sucker for the watermelon because it tastes just like a sour patch kid, but the tiger’s blood flavor reminds me of a summer snow cone and I can’t get enough!
When I need a post run pick-me-up, a turkey avocado wrap is my go-to! It’s so easy to make and packed full of delicious veggies and protein! Plus, after a long run, I’m usually craving something light and fresh but still filling! This wrap checks both of those boxes and is beyond yummy! I posted the recipe on my blog here, but you can find this recipe and so many others in my Running Guide!
My Running Guide also offers a detailed training plan, recovery strategies, and tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years!
I created this running guide to share my own personal experiences – including trials and errors, conversations with experts and endless research. I’ve learned so much throughout the many times I’ve trained, and while I’m not an expert or the fastest runner, I love being able to share my experience with you – after all that’s why I wanted to create this guide! There wasn’t anything for women that had all of the information that I wished I had. Hopefully this will be a great tool and resource for you!
