Family Christmas Traditions with MacKenzie-Childs

MacKenzie-Childs has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My mom has collected MacKenzie-Childs pieces for years and as I’ve gotten older I’ve started doing the same. My mom’s first piece was the Courtly Check Enamel Tea Kettle.  I can’t even count the amount of times my sisters and I would take the kettle, fill it with water and pretend that we were at fancy tea parties. A few years ago my mom had the opportunity to travel to Upstate New York and attend an event at the MacKenzie-Childs’ headquarters. She had lunch with the creative director and was able to watch the process of how things are made. Each piece is created by one of their talented artisans giving everything a unique signature of its own. No two pieces are identical.

I started my personal MacKenzie-Childs collection a few years ago and look forward to the day that I can pass some of my pieces down to my daughters. Some of my favorite pieces come from the Courtly Check Enamel Line. The infamous tea kettle I talked about above can be found HERE. I also have the Courtly Check Enamel Casserbole [yes, casserBOLE] and I’m obsessed with it. The Courtly Check Enamel Saucepan is also amazing. I would say that the Courtly Check Enamel Sauté Pan and the Courtly Check Stock Pot are the two most used pieces in my kitchen. When the Courtly Check Stock Pot is not full of soup, I keep it displayed on my stove top.

Each piece is timeless, beautiful and versatile.

The Holiday’s are such a happy time in our home. There’s something about cozying up by the fireplace, baking sugar cookies and sipping hot chocolate out of a cute mug that brings me so much joy. I recently received MacKenzie-Childs Nutcracker Stacking Mugs and it inspired me to create a hot cocoa bar. I made this festive hot cocoa/cookie bar a few days ago for my family and it was a major hit.

DIY COOKIE/COCOA BAR:

I started by filling my tray with hot chocolate mix, marshmallows, candy canes, a variety of chocolate, pretzel sticks, cinnamon sticks and more. I used the Nutcracker Stacking Mugs and the Courtly Check Mugs to make things a little more festive. Cookies and Hot Cocoa go hand in hand so I picked up a variety of cookies from my local bakery and added a tray of those as well.

This is an easy thing to throw together and looks like a lot more effort was put into it than really is. It’s a fun way to add a little Christmas magic to an ordinary day!

Today I’ll be giving away a MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check Enamel Casserbole to THREE of my readers. Giveaway details below!
